Introduction: This is the inaugural running of the Australian Open High Power Rifle Championships, and we want YOU to “keep’em in the X”.  Every Service, Field and Match rifle enthusiast should not miss this event.  Something for everyone!

*Important* Weekend Outline:  - This event is shot on a range with a butts target system - be early to obtain a detail.

- Each following detail will receive a warning to signify a 3 minute preparation time, for that detail, has commenced.  When the 3 minutes has expired, the targets will appear for the next match which there will be NO waiting for and will begin immediately.  There will be NO extensions or exceptions to this - shooters must be ready to go at all times.

- Shooters may enter up to 2 classes over the weekend – 1 per day only.  Shooter chooses which day they will shoot their elected rifle spec, which that score will count towards the Aus Open Championship.  Shooters shooting the same spec over 2 days MUST NOMINATE before the event which day’s score will count – there is no “best score” option.

Rifle Specifications(Classes)No Cross Entering on the day.  Note:  ALL rifles, of any spec, must have an operating magazine. The forwards compatible rule will apply, i.e. Spec 1 can be used in Spec 3 etc.  Consult rules for full specs.

Spec 1:   Service - Standard Iron - Any issued iron sights service rifle in original condition - zero modifications.

Spec 2:   Service - Modified Iron - As above, or faithful reproduction, modified beyond spec - service calibre.

Spec 3:   Match - Match Iron - Any commercial, custom or service rifle, of any calibre, with iron sights.

            Spec 5:   Service/Match - Optical - As per Specs 1, 2, or 3 but fitted with optical sights.

Schedule              7.00am:                Sign-on, briefing and squadding, followed with day briefing – DO NOT BE LATE.

For Weekend      7.30am:                 Warm up:              200y – 3 rounds any position, each shot marked.

Event Outline: Each day will feature the “National Match Course-plus” consisting of an additional 300 event.

HP RIFLE SATURDAY – AUSTRALIAN OPEN (for 1st choice of rifle spec)

                MATCH 1               200y  Slow Fire Application,              Standing U/S        (2 sighters + 10 rounds)                    12min,

MATCH 2               200y  Rapid Fire,                                 Sitting U/S             (2 sighters + 10 rounds)                    60sec,

Note:  Matches 1&2, and 3&4 are shot back to back.

Special Note:  Saturday conclusion will have an AIHPA members general meeting on the range.

Trophies:         Australian Open – “National Match Course-plus” aggregate by rifle specifications

                        - Spec 1 – Top 12 (for Service Std/As-Issued),      - Spec 2 – Top 3 (for Service Modified)

                        - Spec 3 – Top 3 (for Match Rifle)                        - Spec 5 – Top 6 (for Optical)

Fees (AIHPA members): $40 for entire weekend event, or $30 for either day.  (Non AIHPA members $5 event pass.)

Fees include a basic sausage sizzle BBQ lunch for each day of registration.  Bring own drinks.

No pre-nominations required, just up show up for the weekend…….

Primitive camping on range (come fully self sufficient). A local Motel 2 minutes from range, others at Muswellbrook.

ABERDEEN RANGE DETAILS

  

Camping on range permitted, but shooters must NOT setup camp in front of the 600yard mound.  There is plenty of room available around outside perimeter of the range – please use this outside area.

 

The range is 1 minute drive from range with plenty of eateries, fuel, pub, motel, etc etc.  The larger town of Muswellbrook is 10min south of Aberdeen.

 

There are toilets on the range and storage sheds only.  There is not shelter, showers, water or power.  If camping, please come self sufficient.

 

 

 

 

 

NON AIHPA members.

 

This is an OPEN AIHPA event hosted by Aberdeen Rifle Club, and all licensed shooters, AIHPA members or not, are most welcome to the event.

 

None AIHPA members may join on the weekend at $50 for a 3 year membership – saves $5 event pass.
