SSAA SYDNEY – ANZAC RANGE

CENTREFIRE RIFLE OPEN

SERVICE/FIELD/SPORTER/HUNTER/MATCH, ANY RIFLE,

SYDNEY CLASSIC and

OPEN XMAS DAY MEET

SUNDAY 2nd DECEMBER 2007

Rescheduled from Hornsby 25th Nov to ANZAC range Malabar

* Trophies *               * Xmas BBQ *           * Xmas Door Prizes *

This meet was rescheduled from the washed out meets that were originally scheduled from Feb and March.  After a few selected dates to re-run these meets were met with double bookings or continued bad weather, finally after nearly 2 weeks of daily rain, this day was a fantastic day for shooting.

This meet was also played some other significant roles.  It was the SSAA Sydney Centrefire rifle shooters Xmas shoot, and a thank you shoot to the Silverdale service shooters who lost access to their range due to safety template restrictions.

It was a very well run day after some terrible luck of David Waters, chief event organiser, who had car troubles just minutes from home, on his hour plus long journey to the range.  Fortunately, thanks to Norm and Chris Baynes, and Dick (the fox) Bennett, all the necessary equipment, and David, made it to the range losing only just over 1 hour.

There were some sensational scores shot by the National Champion Peter Barnier.  This shoot was about getting out and doing what we enjoy to do.  Also enjoying some fantastic BBQ food at the conclusion thanks to John Waters who caters most of the Sydney meets now days.  Thanks also to Peter Cuddy who secured the range for regular centrefire rifle meets on the 1st Sunday of every month, Craig Mahoney for organisation the BBQ transport, drinks, ice, etc, the Navy club for allowing us to use their target frames, David Waters for organising the event, and a big thanks to all those who volunteered.

Special thanks to our sponsor of Herron Security and Sport and SSAA Sydney Branch, Australian International High Power Association and Silverdale MSD members for the Xmas prizes making up a large prize table.

As the last formal shoot for the year, we all wish you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a safe HAPPY NEW YEAR.
